As I was saying in last week’s blog this year’s entry into Gemini season is being heavily underlined as the Sun’s arrival in this sign on 20 May was followed by Venus on 23 May, both annual events, and then Jupiter will follow just as we tip into tomorrow.
As Jupiter has a 12 year cycle and we have 12 signs of the zodiac it’s easy maths, he spends a year going through each sign, with a four month retrograde loop in the middle.
Here’s the Jupiter journey for the next 18 months. Have you got anything in your own chart at 11 or 21 Gemini, or in that range? I’ll be talking more about my interpretations of this in the weekly blog going out as usual on Monday –
JUPITER | |
1 January | Turned direct New Year’s Eve, started the year at 5.34 Taurus |
26 May | Ingress Gemini |
9 October | Turns retrograde 21.20 Gemini |
4 Feb 2025 | Turns direct 11.16 Gemini |
9 June | Ingress Cancer |
Last week I also covered the importance of the “anaretic” degree, which is 29 and also known as the “degree of fate”, the last degree of each sign before reaching the other “critical” degree of 0 for the new journey. This sensitive time has lasted most of the week for the slower moving Jupiter –
- Jupiter is on 29 Taurus Tuesday 21 June from 17.00 BST until arriving at 0 Gemini at 00.16 BST on Sunday morning
What to expect? At a personal level I wrote –
Look out for themes of transition, such as something coming to an end, making final decisions, switching your focus to something new, walking away from something that has had its day and is no longer part of your life. Know when to say enough, or good enough. Look out for how this is expressed through earthy and security loving Taurus – eg money, dietary or lifestyle changes.
I should add to look out for how new starts are expressed through Gemini, read on for the lowdown on this sign.
Out in the world I’ve been watching for how all of this might show as Jupiter rules all things international and the peace process itself. Right on cue, yesterday the International Court of Justice (ICJ) stepped in to stop Israel’s relentless path of destruction –
This was the outcome Israel sought to avoid: a demand to halt a military operation the government regards as essential for the defeat of Hamas and the return of hostages.
But there is no immediate indication that Israel will change course as a result of Friday’s ruling by the ICJ. Its tanks are pushing closer to the centre of Rafah and just as the decision was being read out, a series of air strikes sent a huge black cloud billowing over Rafah (BBC NEWS).
In terms of immediate results the ruling hasn’t worked, the situation stays truly critical, but as we move across these critical degrees of 29 Taurus (the material world, including food, produce of all kinds, aid) to 0 Gemini (communication) let’s see what happens with negotiation. So far the ICJ has ordered Israel to report to the court within one month on its progress in complying with these measures.
WHAT’S HAPPENING NEXT WEEK?
Jupiter will get the new week off to an important start, not just because of the change of sign but also because the first major aspect in the making is the harmonious trine to Pluto, an aspect last formed in 2016 and not forming again until 2028. What are the hallmarks to look out for in order to recognise this powerful union at work?
This landmark astrology is taking shape alongside a full speed Mercury who’s on his last leg through Taurus and making a string of final aspects to Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. It’s Mercury’s turn to be heading for that anaretic degree and will then fly into Gemini, his own sign, in the early hours of next Monday. What kind of events does this Mercury activity suggest? And what kind of moves or decisions does it favour?

SUN IN GEMINI
Ruling planet: Mercury
Mode & Element: Mutable Air
Spot the Gemini
Gemini rules the lungs, nervous system, shoulders, arms and hands. You can often spot this excitable sign by the way they gesticulate in order to express themselves. As the communicators of the zodiac talking is as natural as breathing but if you asked them to sit on their hands most Geminis would be rendered mute.
They’re rarely overweight as they run off nervous energy and tend to under eat or burn calories at a rate of knots. They find it hard to be still but this chirpy sign in full flow is your original breath of fresh air, cracking jokes, laughing easily and chattering away to anyone about anything. There’s something birdlike in their quick, restless movements and bright, inquisitive eyes that reflect a busy brain, ceaselessly computing information.
Youthfulness is a hallmark of this sign and often shows in their dress sense too. Look for checks, stripes or a riot of contrasting colours and styles.
The Gemini Nature
Gemini’s archetype is the “puer eternus”, the eternal youth. In physical terms they tend to look younger than their years, naturally or through artifice but very often it’s the former.
Their approach is light and playful, sometimes irreverent as they refuse to take life or authority too seriously. Their sense of fun shows in a quick wit, a slapstick sense of humour and a childlike enthusiasm for games, ideas and suggestions.
A typical Gemini is up for anything if it promises to be a laugh. They thrive on company and conversation and, with their butterfly minds, they can flit from subject to subject, rarely lost for words.
The sign of the Twins has a Jekyll and Hyde reputation that is unjustified and misleading. Just because they can be changeable doesn’t mean that they have a split personality. Think multifaceted rather than two faced, and look for the “doubling up” twin symbolism, such as two jobs, two cars, two dogs, two marriages, and an inability to buy or own just one of anything.
Love & Relationships
Geminis may at first be attracted to the person who listens to them but having someone hang on their every word is not their idea of a relationship. Love talk, or any kind of talk, for a Gemini is most definitely a dialogue not a monologue. This sign needs a meeting of minds, someone to play verbal volleyball with, someone who challenges them, makes them think and laugh, someone who will work and play with them but who always hold their attention and who understands their complexities.
Commitment is not always easy for a Gemini as they are such free spirits. The moment that they sense any danger of being cornered they simply slide away so a long string of affairs until they meet “the one” is not unusual.
However, it is also in their nature to “go along” with things so the other typical scenario is to make an early first marriage that they then quickly grow out of, unless the relationship itself is one that evolves with them. Usually, a second later marriage is more successful. They are secretly sentimental under that sometimes glib exterior and can blossom with the emotional stability of the right partner.
Vocation
Ruled by Mercury, the winged messenger of the gods, Gemini rules everything connected to the communication industry. Marketing, the media, journalism and reporting, TV or radio presenters, Geminis are naturals when it comes to spreading the news, they think incredibly fast on their feet and are talented at using the written or spoken word. This sign also rules driving and such professions as bus or cab drivers.
Geminis are often called the Jack of all trades and master of none which, up to a point, is true. This doesn’t mean that they are incapable of excelling in their chosen career but they can be easily bored and need the mental stimulus of variety.
They are natural multi-taskers, automatically doing more than one thing at a time, mentally and physically. Their hands can be busy with one job while their brain is engaged with something entirely different. They can solve a work problem, write a shopping list, eat their lunch and plan a family event simultaneously.
As the Peter Pan of the zodiac there is also something elusive about this sign and the buck never stops on the Gemini desk if they can possibly help it. A Gemini client insists that he made it to Marketing Director not through talent but by “ducking and diving”. The duplicity of this signs knows that language conceals as well as reveals, they are clever and crafty, for good or ill, and can talk their way out of any corner.
Health
Unsurprisingly, Geminis need their downtime. While their mental energy is legendary this can tip over into hyperactivity and they don’t always notice when their physical energy is running out. They habitually take on far too much and are consequently prone to nervous exhaustion. More haste, less speed is part of this picture.
When they fail to pace themselves properly they will be slowed down through accidents or falls that produce broken bones, strains or injuries mostly to the hands, arms or shoulders. This sign and Mercury between them also rule the respiratory system and problems related to the chest and lungs.
In a nutshell: multitasking, animated, talkative, inventive, resourceful, mischievous.
Textbook Geminis
The seemingly ageless Paul McCartney, one of the most prolific songwriters and performers of all time, with sales of over 100 million albums and 100 million singles, with the Beatles and as a solo artist, three marriages and five children.
The irreverent Joan Rivers who wore the multiple hats of TV personality, actress, comedian, author and playwright, whose works included self help, humour, fiction and autobiographies Enter Talking and Still Talking. She died as a result of complications during surgery on her vocal chords.
The versatile Anderson Cooper, journalist, author, talk show and game show host, a self proclaimed news junkie and anchor of CNN’s live news show Anderson Cooper 360 °.
