16 JUNE 2024
Well all of a sudden it’s the last day of Summer School courses tomorrow and the Summer Solstice is just a few days away. It’s been a busy fortnight, everyone has packed in so much, and as usual we’re winding down just before the big heat arrives! This is why I don’t offer courses in July and August, way too hot and also expensive. Next courses in Sept, back to perfect weather and post school holidays.
It’s also a year since the blog switched to subscription and if you’re not already a subscriber it’s 3k words going out every Monday.
This coming week starts with the “more complex than it looks” Mercury – Venus which I’ll say more about here in a minute, but THIS IS NOT THE WEEKLY BLOG. The rest of the coming week’s astrology will be in the blog that goes out tomorrow. It will include –
- Sun reaching the last degree of Gemini and squaring Neptune
- Sun entering Cancer – the Summer Solstice. What does this mean and why is this year’s so weighty?
- Full Moon in the first degree of Capricorn – her sign of detriment – next Full Moon last degree of Capricorn, the “critical degrees” at work
- Mercury & Venus minor aspects to Jupiter – the lowdown on the “Greater Benefic”
- How Jupiter activity is showing for Kate, Princess of Wales
- Mercury linking to Mars, also in detriment in Taurus
- Find the Full Moons and the Jupiter journey in your own chart
MERCURY – VENUS
Monday 17 June
- Venus 29 Gemini square Neptune 29 Pisces 04.48
- Venus ingress Cancer 07.21
- Mercury 29 Gemini square Neptune 29 Pisces 08.42
- Mercury ingress Cancer 10.08
- Mercury conjunct Venus 0 Cancer 13.44
So Mercury and Venus have been travelling side by side through the end degrees of Gemini. I have my Mercury – Saturn conjunction at 25-26 Sagittarius, the opposite sign, and trouble kicked off the moment they lined up with each other.
I couldn’t do any transactions with my UK banking online. To cut a VERY long day short I ended up on the phone to the bank, and to get the account working again I had to clear all browser cookies. I then had to create a voice (Mercury) recognition recording.
The knock on effect was disastrous. None of my other websites, including Mailchimp, Facebook, Instagram, other UK accounts, would recognise me. It was a whole day of emails and OTPs to prove I was me!
Mercury opposite my own Mercury and Saturn would have been bad enough but Venus was in there too, ruler of my 6th House where we locate pets.
As you can see above Mercury and Venus, before changing sign, both have to struggle past Neptune first, who is “stuck” on the last degree of Pisces for weeks, a “critical degree” and the position of the sad Fixed Star of Scheat. If you’ve spent the weekend feeling heavy, sad, tired, noticeably anxious or battling with something that just won’t make sense then you’re far from alone!
One of the heaviest showings for this Neptune is grief, and yesterday my cat Nondas who I rescued back in January reached the end of his earthly time. He’d suddenly gone downhill over the last two weeks and I found him under the teaching table, completely listless. He refused food and he was badly dehydrated even though I watched him drink water the night before, I had to take him straight to the vet who said it was obvious symptoms of organ failure. I suspect kidneys (ruled by Venus).
The kindest and right decision was to have him put to sleep. I’m absolutely heartbroken, he was so special. He’s now laid to rest in the back garden with the others under the olive trees.
So this was some very difficult astrology playing out but, yet again, there was a great deal of comfort for me to know that the events fitted the picture. Mercury – Saturn is absolutely textbook for making difficult (Saturn) decisions (Mercury) and for handling bad news. But that is what had to be done, the time had come.
As a lot of this activity culminates in the early hours of tomorrow I already referenced it at the end of last week’s blog, in which I said –
The moment something hits overwhelm is when answers are most likely to emerge. The big positive taking shape is that Mercury and Venus not only change sign just a few hours apart, but they also unite.
This is a fantastic combo for really helpful or genuinely caring help, information, solution orientated conversations, anything that improves family or property concerns, any kind of love talk that brings you closer to someone important and any kind of money plan that makes life more pleasurable.
Pay very close attention to who or what is important in your life as this astrology unfolds. New relationships forged at this time hold huge potential.
I already have a sense of some other issues taking shape in a positive way when that new journey starts and I’ll keep you posted, but Elisabeth and her horary astrology group today did a chart for me about a major question and gave me some fantastic feedback. I’ll share it another time.
For now remember that the Mercury – Venus union is not as frequent as you might think, it happens between once and three times a year. Today and tomorrow look out for things like significant news, info, anyone getting in touch, important conversations, new ideas – in the coming weeks you may well trace back a result to what’s unfolding right now. Look out too for the Cancer hallmarks – chiefly family, home, property.
