“I think if you’re not comfortable with the unknown, then it’s difficult to be a scientist… I don’t need an answer. I don’t need answers to everything. I want to have answers to find.”
“A scientist is happy when proved wrong – it rules something out – it’s not a disappointment. The world is full of people who want to be right, and not enough people who just want to know.”
“Astrology is rubbish.”

THIS WEEK’S QUOTES
BRIAN COX
I find Piscean Brian Cox fascinating and love to watch him hold forth about the mysteries of the universe. This is in spite of the fact that he rubbishes astrology, arguing that “it is preposterous to think tiny, distant rocks and ice in space have any impact on daily life on Earth.”
The irony is that he’s right! The planets are just lumps of rock. Astrology is not physical or causal, the planets do not make us be a certain way or make us do anything, but in some magical and unknowable way the heavens reflect back to us the unfolding of life on planet Earth. Over the centuries we as human beings assign symbolic meaning and, somehow, it works.
As I’m always saying, get beyond the question of does astrology work, because the infinitely more fascinating question is, how come it works? As above, so below, you don’t have to venture very far into the world of astrology to find that this is so. After 40 years of living and breathing astrology I never fail to be in awe of its workings and wonders.
In other words, I have the same questioning approach and endless fascination for astrology as Brian Cox does for astronomy. He thinks that astrologers are on a different page but are we? I think it’s the same one.
Happy Solar Return!
THE ASTROLOGY BLOG
The above is an excerpt from this week’s blog, which has been going for about 16 years now, and is a sacrosanct part of my work. It comes to about 3k words and is mailed out every Monday afternoon.
I always start with quotes and horoscopes from those celebrating birthdays or who are in the news in other ways, and then move on to feedback on the previous week, out in the world and also in my own life so that we can see how the astrology came to life.
You’ll then find the full aspectarian for the week ahead – which planets are doing what, including the Moon – with my thoughts on interpretation and what to look out for.
