JUPITER – URANUS conjunction in TAURUS
If you’re a follower of astrology then you can’t have failed to miss that this is one of the biggest weekends of the whole year, as Jupiter catches up with Uranus. Jupiter has a 12 year cycle, Uranus an 84 year cycle, so these two giants meet up only once every 13 – 14 years.
If you want to look back the last one was a three-legged event on 8 June, 18 September 2010 and 4 January 2011 at 0 Aries and the end degrees of Pisces. The current one is a solo event at 22 degrees Taurus (money, our material values, produce) and the next one will be in Cancer in 2037/8 if you like to think that far ahead!
JUPITER is the Greater Benefic so he tends to bring positive experiences, especially linked to opportunity or lucky breaks, other people’s or our own generosity, new people who are good for us, long distance travel for work or pleasure or learning, anything legal, anything liberating and anything that makes our world bigger and better. Jupiter is nearly always a prominent player in big success stories.
URANUS is the wild child, the rebel, the rug puller, the bringer of all that is unexpected and couldn’t possibly have seen coming, from amazing wow surprises right through to eyebrow raising disbelief or shocks. As I always say, Uranus is the astrologer’s nightmare, often the thing that never crossed your mind. But clear links to anything online, including social media and websites, as Uranus rules technology, groups and the collective.
As I said in last week’s blog, putting that lot together is potentially very exciting or disruptive, or both. Both Jupiter and Uranus, with their links to Sag and Aquarius, are very strongly connected to humanitarianism, freedom, the rights of the individual and liberation from anything that stifles or controls us.
So am expecting to hear stories of breakthrough moments, literal or metaphorical escape tunnels and good news for individuals, as well as progress with bringing war to an end or containing potentially explosive situations (Iran).
HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
These big conjunctions are in the making for many weeks and also linger on in terms of staying side by side for a long while afterwards. But the nearer the corresponding event(s) to the astrological moment, the more significant they’ll be.
Remember that Jupiter is the sower of seeds, so the relevant info doesn’t always reach us until a while later. Here’s a literal example, on the last conjunction that completed in January 2011, my niece was newly pregnant with her twins but it wasn’t confirmed until later and it was February when we got the news. So some events that unfold in the next month or so may have roots stretching back to what’s happening now.
So of course, the first thing I did this morning was check the headlines because astrological symbolism always shows in world events and teaches us more about the potential meaning. The lead story was “An audible sigh of relief in the Middle East”.
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-68861607
The BBC reports that “a limited operation seems to have carried a powerful warning – that Israel has the intelligence and assets to strike at will at Iran’s beating heart. It is a message so urgent that Israel made sure it was sent before, rather than after, the start of the Jewish Passover (the week beginning 22 April), as was widely predicted by Israel watchers.”
Jupiter as the Greater Benefic is the peace planet so, for now, there’s an uneasy truce.
THEMES – WHAT TO LOOK FOR
Jupiter is also the legal planet and Uranus is the collective, anything from small groups to the world at large. The other story that’s dominated the news this week has been the difficulty of selecting 12 unbiased (supposedly) jurors for Donald Trump in the first-ever criminal trial of a former president. I think we can safely say that is a landmark moment.
In last week’s blog I drew attention to themes, choosing quotes from two celebs, Jennifer Aniston an Aquarian (Uranus’ sign) and Taylor Swift a Sagittarian (a Jupiter sign). Trump is a Gemini but born on a Full Moon in Sagittarius, with Jupiter 17 Libra trine Uranus 17 Gemini.
Jennifer Aniston is one of my favourite teaching charts so I knew that she had a Jupiter – Uranus conjunction in Libra but Taylor was a hunch. Sure enough, she has those two planets in aspect to each other, this time an opposition across the 2nd/8th Houses of money.
Both women have stormed (Uranus) their way to financial success and broken through all kinds of barriers. Jennifer Aniston and the other five members of the cast of Friends (there’s the group) rebelled when they realized that the series was making umpteen millions, they asked for $1 million each per episode and got it.
Taylor reached billionaire status last year and was the first artist ever to do so just through her songwriting and performing. She’s all over the news again today with the release of her new album, The Tortured Poets Department, with the message that she knows all about relationship breakups, depression and comfort eating.
“Swifties” are the millions of fans, especially women, who identify with her “heart on sleeve” Sagittarian openness and feel that she could have been writing just about them. So one take on Jupiter & Uranus = mass appeal.
This conjunction will be exact in the early hours of tomorrow morning (adjust to your own time zone) and falls at just under 22 degrees of Taurus –
Sunday 21 April
- Jupiter conjunct Uranus 21.50 Taurus 03.25 BST
I think this big event will be especially important for the Jupiter signs (Sag and Pisces), the Uranus sign (Aquarius) and Taurus, not just by Sun sign but by natal themes in the horoscope.
For example, back to Jennifer Aniston, she has the Jupiter – Uranus conjunction natally, and this one will fall conjunct her 8th House cusp, the money houses 2nd and 8th being at 22 Scorpio – 22 Taurus. A new project in the pipeline?
Taylor Swift is as I write now in the throes of success with the new album and in the process of making her next millions. She’s broken the record for Spotify’s most-streamed artist in a single day.
KING CHARLES – born on an exact Jupiter – Uranus opposition, while this current conjunction falls exactly opposite his Sun at 22.26 Scorpio, exactly conjunct his 5th House (children) cusp of 23 Scorpio. The natal picture captures the story of a child rebelling (Uranus) and emigrating (Jupiter) and the shock (Uranus) of his own (Sun) and Kate’s illness. I expect that there’s a LOT going on behind the closed palace doors, hopefully including building bridges with Harry.
IN YOUR OWN CHART
Locate 22 degrees of Taurus in your own chart, and note the house in which it falls and also if it’s picking up any other planet/house cusp, so anything at or very close to 22 degrees. The concerns of the house(s) may give you some clues.
While you’re at it, also locate where 16 Aries falls (where Mercury will turn direct next week) and 27 Aries (where Mercury turned retrograde 1 April).
In a nutshell – in terms of astrological symmetry the Houses work in pairs of opposites:
1st House – the Self | 7th House – Significant Other |
2nd House – Personal finances, the resources for life | 8th House – Shared finances, death and goods of the dead |
3rd House – Communication, local environment, siblings and neighbours | 9th House – Higher education, wider horizons, for experience & understanding |
4th House – Home, property, family and private life | 10th House – Purpose and public life |
5th House – Personal pleasures and creativity, children | 11th House – Group pleasures and concerns, friends |
6th House – Physical health, work, service | 12th House – Spiritual life, sacrifice |
In my own chart the conjunction is going to fall on my Descendant (21.27 Taurus). As it’s almost exact I thought by now I’d have a clear idea of what this would be about but so far it’s a bit sketchy. The Descendant is the Angle of partnership but it can also clearly speak of any “significant other”. This week there’s been a dreadful shock for a dear Taurus friend and news about a relationship breakup for a Pisces friend, definitely in “the worm has turned” rebellion category.
As for the Taurus bit, ie money, and Jupiter ruling my 2nd house of money, it’s been pouring OUT not in! Hefty garage bills, vet bills, physiotherapy bills all of which were also time bandits, I’m behind with just about everything in my work, and then got a flu type bug. But that of course all totally fits with retrograde Mercury, playing havoc with usual routine.
LOTTERY
Is it just a mug’s game? Of course, but it’s fun and cheap entertainment for the odd flutter. I do play the UK lottery occasionally with my niece, we once won a couple of hundred quid, so we’re definitely doing some lucky (Jupiter) dips for tonight’s draw. Part of our synastry is her Moon’s North Node at 24 Taurus conjunct my Descendant 21 Taurus – and we fit the theme of Aquarius (her) and Sagittarius (me). I also natally have Jupiter in aspect to Uranus, a square, and part of my Grand Cross.
The best way to win anything tonight though, or probably any night, is to be part of a syndicate, ie with the Uranus link to groups. Or to join forces with your Sag or Aquarian friends lol. Sagittarians in particular are known for their 11th hour luck which has definitely been a theme in my own life.
THE LONDON MARATHON
Jupiter is an extremely common planet in sporting success stories and a clear showing of the conjunction with collective Uranus is the London marathon, scheduled for tomorrow with more than 50,000 runners aiming to tackle the 26.2 miles. This isn’t just sport, the event also raises millions of pounds for charity.
Talking of charity work let’s hope that extends to Gaza. The war has destroyed imports and agriculture (Taurus) so the whole country is reliant on humanitarian (Jupiter) deliveries by land, sea and air, and the harrowing stories of not enough getting through continue.

SUMMER SCHOOL
Flight prices have been crazy high but are continuing to come down, as they usually do as the new season gets underway. For example, a return ticket to our local airport Preveza (PVK) via Stansted for the first week of Summer School 5th to 12th June was £210.00 a week ago, nearly half what it was. The same ticket is now £163.00.
All courses comprise 15 hours teaching time, and are held in the garden classroom in my own home. Transport to my house from your accommodation in Nidri is organized by me and included in your course fee of £375.00.
A SELECTION OF TESTIMONIALS – WHAT HAVE OTHER STUDENTS SAID?
To study with Joanna is an exclusive experience and on the beautiful Greek island of Lefkas too. This was one of the best courses I have ever done. Joanna is a fantastic teacher with a big heart and challenging ideas.
What a gift to learn how to accept myself and not have to apologise for myself anymore. I feel rejuvenated and I know where I’m going in life. The Greek experience has done wonders for me.
I loved this astrology course. Jo has taken the traditional method of teaching astrology and turned it on its head. She gave breadth to the subject, moving us through the building blocks as quickly as possible, until magically the glyphs started to sing and dance. She also has a very friendly relationship with the local tavernas! Such fun and healing too.
Enlightening. Educational. Fun! Would definitely recommend any of Jo’s courses. They are life changing.
I had forgotten that there are places like Nidri in the world. The perfect place to learn, beautiful scenery, stunning views. You really couldn’t ask for more! Thank you Jo for making my time in Greece such a joy.
I want to say how much I enjoyed the course! Thank you for being an expert teacher and great host. And thank you for my reading, which was the best I’ve ever had. It was positive and absolutely filled with information.
I would describe the Greek Island Summer School as total escapism! The encouragement of fellow students was wonderful. We shared a strong bond of beliefs, respect and understanding. Jo watched over us and guided us, as we unfolded like a garden in the spring.
Fantastic! Well run, fun, informative and generally a great experience. Jo is so patient and understanding. She also has a great teaching manner and is passionate about her work and this came across at all times.
In one word, mind-blowing! Joanna’s natural teaching ability has empowered me, transformed my belief system and shown me how to unravel the past and present as well as the future.
Joanna is a breath of fresh air, patient and clear, and the whole learning experience was a breeze. Thank you Jo from the bottom of my heart.
Joanna is an inspiring teacher. She kept us totally engrossed and thirsting for more knowledge. One of the best learning and holiday experiences I have ever had.
I was very impressed with the skilful, structured and knowledgeable way in which the course was run. Although I had a little knowledge when I arrived, I was amazed by the amount I had learned by the end of the week!
The course was absolutely brilliant. The pace was just right, the hours were just right – you feel that you are on holiday as well as learning something you really enjoy. Excellent value for money, and it has certainly given me the confidence I needed to know that I can conduct a reading,
The course/holiday combo was all I could have dreamed for, combining a rest with a top notch course. Everyone received individual attention as well as being able to exchange views. Joanna is a warm and empathic mentor – and a wonderful host, opening up her home to us all.
Thoroughly enjoyed the course. It was extremely well structured, making the learning easy. It has left me with the confidence to leave here and start doing readings. I also really felt that I was on holiday and not just learning. I shall cherish the memories.
The course was excellent – really well structured, clear and thorough. Jo is a gifted teacher and her warmth, humour and genuine interest in all of us shone through. Do it – you’ll love it! Thanks for a fabulous week.
The depth and level of understanding that Joanna has for the cards is phenomenal. This has been a wonderful life changing experience, on this beautiful island of Lefkada. I will return – this will not be the end of the course but a whole new beginning.
This week has been about so much more than just attending a course. It’s been a deep learning experience, at both a practical and personal level. I’ve connected with others but also with myself – a brilliant life changing time!
Although I had been studying for many years I still can’t believe how much more I learned with Joanna. Such a useful course, and held in an idyllic setting. I was in heaven in Nidri.
A really enjoyable course, with a perfect balance of teaching input/support and student discussion and practice. I feel wholeheartedly that my money has been well spent and I would absolutely recommend.
I hoped at least to learn enough to do meaningful readings for myself and my expectations were greatly exceeded. Joanna is very, very knowledgeable. More importantly, she put us at our ease and boosted our confidence. We had a lot of fun along the way. Thank you!

Astrology is Joanna’s passion, her teaching came from the heart and her knowledge was boundless. Excellent.
Brilliant course. Joanna is such a great teacher and her patience is endless! We covered an enormous range of astrological material, all supported with clear handouts which I can take away with me and continue to work with. Thanks for a great week.
Everything was impressively organized and Jo is a natural teacher. I learnt loads. The whole experience was a joy, and a great holiday, in amazing company, with sunshine and plenty of wine! It all ended too quickly. Perfect.

The course has sparked an intense curiosity in me, which has started a fascinating journey. And the food was gorgeous and in great abundance! Highly recommended.
I now have a much better handle on the many meaning of the tarot cards. The pace was just right and I was delighted that I was able to keep up with the other more experienced students, with no difficulty. I also found the course very therapeutic, and in ways that I could not have imagined.
I was absolutely delighted with the course. It was very stimulating, very well organized and presented with clarity.
