This morning’s news included an item about Dolly Parton having to delay her Las Vegas residency slot by nine months. She was scheduled for six shows in December. A recent health problem was a kidney stone that led to infection and she was told to rest, not travel and rehearse.
Kidney/uti issues are utterly exhausting, which you’ll know if you’ve ever suffered from such things.
In Dolly’s chart we can see two astrological features that would account for the health issue and cancellation –
- Chiron the Wounded Healer transiting opposite her Jupiter 26.36 Libra, exact in June, September 2025 and completing in April 2026. I suspect an emotional link to being run down as she lost her husband this year too after nearly 60 years of marriage and Jupiter is ruler of her 7th House of marriage. In the physical body Libra rules the kidneys
- Eclipse symbolism still playing out. The Lunar Eclipse at 15 Pisces on 7 September fell smack on her Descendant 15 Pisces (the marriage Angle, and also for a celebrity the Descendant = audience) in Pisces (waterworks)
- Note how any long running transit, in this instance Chiron, becomes sensitized when it coincides with a New/Full Moon or, in this case, especially an Eclipse. This is another tool in the astrology kitbag for accuracy with timing measures
- Husband Carl died 3 March 2025. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2019, and she put her own career on hold in 2022. In Dolly’s chart she’d had Pluto transiting opposite her Sun 29.26 Capricorn, backwards and forwards for a couple of years, tragic symbolism for the gradual loss into the dementia darkness (Pluto) of the man (Sun) that she’d been with for so long
- The date of his death was shown in her chart by Venus (love) turning retrograde less than 24 hours earlier, 2 March at 10 Aries, exactly conjunct her 8th House cusp (where we locate death)
Looking at her chart you can’t miss that Uranus on the Midheaven, both at 13 Gemini. She’s been a revolutionary figure in so many ways in her career. The astrology suggests that she’ll keep going until her Uranus Return at the age of 84.
