Chiron was discovered in 1977, coinciding with the rise of the holistic health industry and the subsequent spiraling awareness of the mind – body – spirit connection. In terms of astrological tradition Chiron is but an infant, without an official sign of dignity, yet he has already found his way into most Ephemerides, the book of tables that tracks the journeys of all the major planets. Chiron is here to stay.
Chiron has an elliptical orbit, think rugby ball instead of football, which means that he spends much longer travelling through some signs than he does through others. We can’t just divide his 51 year orbit into 12. So Chiron has been in Aries since early 2019, last year got as far as 27 Aries and then turned retrograde at the end of last July, and today turns direct again at 22 Aries.
The turning points are always sensitive times, especially in terms of health issues or healing needs in any other respect. Pay close attention to what unfolds for you this week, or to who is there for you when needed. Melanie Reinhart says that Chiron is the teacher as well as the practitioner, and signifies those who accompany us on the healing path.

Steven Spielberg, whose movies address the deepest human wounds of war, terrorism, the Holocaust and the slave trade, has the Moon conjunct Chiron in Scorpio.
