What’s happening this week?
The Astrology blog – 10 to 24 November 2013
Hurray, Mercury is stationing, getting ready to turn direct tomorrow evening 21.13 GMT. Remember that what is called the shadow period finishes on 27 November, so there may be some lumps and bumps to smooth out over the next couple of weeks, but the worst is over. This may relate to knowing at least to what you are dealing with in terms of a particular issue, and the next fortnight will be the “fix it” time.
Here’s a checklist for Mercury turning direct:
· Important information comes to light
· Rumours are squashed when the truth outs
· You find the right person to deal with the problem
· People make decisions
· Computer glitches are solved/disputes are settled
· Lost objects are found
… and so on, you get the picture.
Mercury turns direct at 2 degrees of Scorpio and therefore trine (harmonious) to Neptune at 2 degrees of his own sign of Pisces. This aspect first happened on 1 October and repeats twice, today and almost immediately again on Monday. This is doubly important as Neptune himself is poised to turn direct on Wednesday, having been retrograde since the beginning of June. (Note that the outer planets spend months when in their retrograde periods, unlike the personal planets who are retrograde for a matter of weeks.)
This feels incredibly healing. Look for the hallmarks of compassion and deeper understanding in any situation that has been painful to deal with. There may be a lot of tears to cry but there’s a deep connection in the making and a sense of knowing what you really want or really need. It also feels very creative. Get those ideas out there, talk about them to someone who can help you or inspire you.
Still in the water (emotional world) signs, the Sun in Scorpio is trine Jupiter in Cancer on Tuesday. This is the kind of aspect that an electional astrologer would look for – ie if you were looking to elect a date for a special event you would choose the best possible aspects that you could find. A stationary direct Mercury, and the Sun in trine to Jupiter – planet of good fortune, truth, justice/legal concerns, expansion, education and travel – adds up to a pretty powerful picture. Many matters will simply fall into place by themselves but if you need to make a decision of your own, and especially if you need good advice, now’s the time to act.
The only blip this week is Venus playing into the ongoing Uranus – Pluto square on Friday. For some this will be about calling time on an unhealthy relationship, or there’ll be some shockwaves when you hear about someone splitting up, or any other piece of news that comes completely out of the blue. It’s the classic “no change without conflict” set up. With Venus in business orientated Capricorn this will include work dramas for some. Venus rules money as well as love so be vigilant, just as you would be under a retrograde Mercury.
The week starts with the Full Moon in Taurus on Monday 17 November, exact at 15.17 GMT. This is the Moon’s best sign – she rules the water sign of Cancer but the earth sign of Taurus is her sign of “exaltation” – and it’s a picture of fertility and fruition. Note, however, that all Full Moons are also very much linked to “lunacy” so look out for the domestics, especially as it’s flanked by the Venus disruption on one side and a Mars – Jupiter aspect on the other, exact on Monday 19th. Mars is sextile (harmonious) to Jupiter but he’s still the god of war and he’s currently travelling through picky Virgo! Back off if you hear yourself criticizing someone or something, and gently discourage others from doing the same.
The Mars – Jupiter is, otherwise, a highly productive combination. I note from my own schedule that this will be the “applying” aspect (the first one to happen next) at the time when I’ll be meeting a UK tarot colleague face to face for the first time, and also another tarot group in the UK and talking to them about their studies. Mars in Virgo is the hallmark of the artisan, the person honing their crafts and skills. I’ll be talking about my Summer School here in Greece too – and with Jupiter ruling higher learning and long distance travel, not to mention fun, I am clearly going to be in the right place at the right time and am looking forward to it immensely!
So, think about your own gifts and skills, perfecting the ones you already have or how to learn new ones. Connect with like-minded people and be positive. Jupiter loves optimism and thinking big.
The theme of being able to make decisions related to longer standing issues, or something you’ve been thinking about for a long time, surfaces again on Wednesday 21st when Mercury sextiles Pluto. Again, because of Mercury’s retrograde period, this aspect has already happened twice – on 8th and 29 October. Look back to those dates and see what was paramount for you at that time, and now look for closure and moving on.
Along the same lines Venus will sextile Saturn on Saturday 23 November, the first of three contacts. The next two will be 11 January and 25 February 2014. I’ll be talking more about this in the weeks to come but for now take note of what takes shape on that weekend.
It’s part of a new cycle as the Sun moves into Sagittarius on Friday 22nd – reminding us that we really are moving out of the rather heavy Scorpio stuff that has been dominating the picture for so long. Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter – see above for all the Jupiter related concerns!
Being a typical eleventh hour Sag I am now off to pack – am leaving in an hour and a half…. Take care everyone and I will be blogging again as usual on Monday mornings from the 25th November.
