What’s happening this week?
All times stated are in GMT.
Venus and the Sun are now travelling through Scorpio and both make that awkward quinqunx aspect to Uranus in the first half of the week –
Monday Venus quinqunx Uranus (15.05)
Wednesday Sun quinqunx Uranus (21.59)
This “blind spot” aspect occurs as planets align when they are five signs apart. Also note that Uranus himself is the planet of the unexpected and is still travelling through Aries so this conflict happens between planets that are both in the signs ruled by Mars. This cranks up the heat for potential conflict of the kind that you couldn’t possibly see coming. In other words, getting caught out by Mars stuff is high on the risk agenda. Mars is ego – be honest about your own agendas and try to be objective – and he is also energy, as is the Sun. If you’re under the weather then don’t overdo things. Listen to your body, rest up and don’t push yourself too hard. The world won’t stop turning if you cancel an appointment or a night out. The sign of Scorpio is traditionally and symbolically death and rebirth. While we may be spiritual beings having a physical experience we are also physical beings having a spiritual experience. We don’t say “keeping body and soul together” for nothing. So find the balance and if you need to recharge the batteries then the first half of this week is the time to do so.
Venus is the love planet so take it nice and steady if you’re getting to know someone new. And even if you think you know someone inside out, the reality is that we don’t know anyone inside out. Even our closest loved ones can surprise us. Also Venus rules money as well as love so be vigilant – and realistic. If you’re planning a budget for anything be aware that the hidden extras factor is likely to prove far more troublesome than you might have bargained for. However, the main theme of this week is bringing the bigger picture into focus so any kind of uncertainty is likely to be short lived.
Monday also brings a major aspect that helps things along –
Sun sextile Pluto (22.49)
The Sun in Scorpio in good aspect to Pluto, Scorpio’s co-ruling planet on his long journey through purposeful Capricorn (which just for the record started in 2008 and ends in 2023 so still many years to go) is a powerful teaming and fantastic for positive endings/new beginnings, healing of all kinds and finding the balance – such as work/life, spiritual/physical or emotional/material needs. Finding the right person to help you is key, especially for stubborn health problems or working out how to make a big change in your life.
Thursday Full Moon 14 degrees of Taurus (22.24)
This is the Moon’s best sign – she rules the water sign of Cancer but the earth sign of Taurus is her sign of “exaltation” – and it’s a picture of fertility and fruition. Financial concerns are the first to grab the spotlight. Note, however, that all Full Moons are also very much linked to “lunacy” so look out for the domestics, especially as this Full Moon is preceded by the Uranus disruption. Often this lunacy factor is related to issues coming to light. The Full Moon illuminates and brings things out of hiding. Guard against falling out with someone over money. It’s always a sensitive issue but if you’re in a money muddle of any kind, or if you need to find ways of making the cash go a lot further, now’s the time to find the practical answers.
Saturday Mercury ingress Scorpio (23.10)
This is significant as this Mercury’s ingress into Scorpio Take 2. Here’s the sequence that’s been unfolding and which is now reaching its final stages –
• 27 September Mercury entered Scorpio for the first time but was already stationing (slowing down)
• 4 October Mercury turned retrograde at 2 degrees of Scorpio
• 10 October Mercury went back into Libra
• 25 October Mercury turned direct at 17 degrees of Libra
• 8 November Mercury enters Scorpio for the second time
• 10 November (next Monday) Mercury will reach 2 degrees of Scorpio for the second time, but this time keeps moving. (This is known as the end of the shadow period – which covers the period of time between Mercury turning direct and returning to the degree at which he turned retrograde)
So, what does this all mean? Firstly look back to see what issues were important for you at the end of September and beginning of October. Either these will return or they will reach an important next stage or a conclusion. For me this is easy to see as I actually wrote the very last words of my new book on 2 October, I’ve been working on amendments since then – classic retrograde Mercury, spotting errors and making corrections, requiring a lot of close concentration and attention to detail – and now I’m on the final proof read. All writers feel at this stage that actually writing the book was the easy bit! However, Mercury (writing, books) getting back into Scorpio (witchy subjects) for the second time is perfect symbolism for wrapping up this project and I can now look forward to seeing my “baby” in print (due date 12 March 2015).
Also look out for themes of being able to make decisions related to longer standing issues, especially something you’ve been thinking about for a long time. This Mercury activity signals news that will make a difference. Also look out for all of the other usual themes connected to Mercury picking up speed, such as truth games, corrected information, answers to sticky problems, finding what you’ve been looking for or going ahead with plans or major purchases.
The rest of the weekend picture is also pretty lively as we travel towards a Venus – Jupiter aspect –
Sunday Venus square Jupiter (20.42)
The two Benefics (the good guys) coming together is usually happy news, especially for love, fun and new opportunities. The cautionary note lies in the fact that this particular alignment has something of an “over the top” quality. A square is a challenging aspect, Venus is still in Scorpio her sign of detriment and Jupiter is in big, bold Leo and hard to miss. Jupiter’s principle is expansion but under a difficult aspect this can tip over into inflation and exaggeration. Jupiter in Leo being pulled into the picture by square to a super sensitive Venus has the feel of someone loving a drama or even creating one when life gets too tame, feelings running high or touchy subjects growing arms and legs. This aspect will be applying (in the process of becoming exact) throughout the weekend so if you’re off on a Saturday night out there’s no denying that the time is right for letting your hair down, but it’s about knowing when to stop!
Similarly, with work, social or family commitments, guard against biting off more than you can chew – or more than you can realistically afford. Debt accrued at this time may be regretted so if you’re going to go out on a limb in any way make sure it’s for a reason that is really worthwhile.
