25 February 2013 – This week’s Astrology

sorry, retrograde Mercury strikes.. forgot to post this up yesterday:

The Full Moon is exact this evening (20.27 GMT). Traditionally this is a time of illumination, of things coming full circle and information coming to light, but bear in mind that we currently have a retrograde Mercury. This signals a risk that things are not, in fact, what they seem or that there is more information to come. As always, the three week period of Mercury being retrograde is a time for caution and often a “wait and see” policy works best. In the meantime the usual advice applies – back up your work, watch your valuables and be careful what you say/commit to. You’ll find a link to three articles on the subject of retrograde Mercury on Sally Kirkman’s site:

This Full Moon is in Virgo – sign of health, duty and work. Virgo tends to get not so much bad press as boring press, often being associated with a “goody-goody” image, a critical nature, perfectionism and a strong work ethic. However, this is also the sign of skills and crafts, and this is where the positive Virgo talents for precision and attention to detail come into their own. This mindfulness is highly appropriate, even invaluable, for the combination of a Virgo Full Moon/retrograde Mercury.

So, what next? Mercury in Pisces backtracks to meet up with Mars in the same sign tomorrow morning, repeating an aspect that first occurred on 8 February. Mercury (communication) and Mars (war) – words can wound so look out for disputes, especially as Full Moon time is also notorious for “lunacy” and domestics. Or whatever started for you around 8 February is likely to pop up again, and you have a second chance to address it. You may be amused to note that Virgo correlates to the 6th house which is where we also find animals and I am currently at war with a huge stray tomcat who is wreaking havoc in my house, day and night, trying to get in and spraying everywhere when he does. A locked cat-flap is a mystery to my own animals but it’s the only answer for now! And, oh yes, the plumbing problems continue and the bathroom floor is due to be dug up this afternoon… joy.

Two other features this week – Venus follows the Sun, Mercury and Mars into Pisces in the early hours of tomorrow morning. This is good news in that Venus is said to be “exalted” in this sign – in other words, the Venusian qualities of love, peace and pleasure find easy expression in this gentle water sign. Note especially the Venus/Neptune (co-ruler of Pisces) conjunction on Thursday afternoon.

Finally the week ends with the Sun making positive aspects to Pluto and Saturn on Friday. Although the week does feel like something of an emotional rollercoaster these aspects do have a feel of bringing things back into perspective and into some kind of order. Even if you don’t get perfect results you will get some answers, insights, guidelines and the chance to regain some control over the important issues currently unfolding in your life. I might even have a new bathroom floor and no leaky pipes by then!

3 December 2012 – This week’s Astrology

Hi everyone

Every now and then there’s a very quiet week astrologically and this is one of them. No major aspects, no New or Full Moon, no planet changing sign. The main event is that Mercury spends the week getting back up to full speed after the recent retrograde period and it’s his last week in Scorpio (moving on into Sagittarius early next week). Whatever has been on a “go slow” or whatever situation has been characterized by hidden agendas/complex emotional issues should now be presenting increasingly obvious solutions.

Have a great week and CLICK BELOW for the link to this week’s column on Avon Connects:

1 October 2012 – This week’s Astrology

This is what I call a transitional week. Jupiter – planet of hope, good fortune and wide horizons – is now turning retrograde, and will be backtracking until the end of next January. This doesn’t mean that all good things go on hold until the New Year, but it does mean that plans for the future could meet an interesting twist in the road. Unfolding events may introduce a factor that leads to looking at longer term issues in a new light, especially as Jupiter turns retrograde in Gemini, sign of the Twins, which often signals choices. Focus on your “re” words – review, revise, rethink, rewind… Travel, legal and educational concerns all need special re-consideration.

Jupiter’s direct opposite is Saturn – planet of work, effort and responsibility – and he’s in the news big time, changing sign for the first time in three years. Saturn moves into intense and powerful Scorpio on Friday (21.34 BST) and will be trekking through this sign until September 2015. Mmm, life suddenly seems to be taking a turn for the serious but this doesn’t mean that it has to be heavy going. On the contrary, I would suggest that a deep appraisal of your true needs, desires and goals is extremely timely. Saturn’s bigger picture message is that nothing can be built and truly valued without commitment… and how can you put commitment before passion? It has to be the other way around.

As above, so below, so by “coincidence” rather than design am just reading Stephen Covey’s “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People”, a book which truly captures this astrological vibe and making me “re-think” certain ideas in a fascinating way. Thank you to Jeryl for the recommendation!

24 September 2012 – This week’s Astrology

As you know by now the Uranus – Pluto square has been dominating the astrological news. Just to summarise, the second of 7 contacts was exact last week, the third contact won’t be until May of next year. At the weekend the Sun will oppose Uranus and square Pluto, and the Full Moon then falls at 7 degrees Aries, exactly conjunct Uranus and square Pluto. In other words, the themes of this major aspect will be re-invoked and illuminated. If you’re dealing with any ongoing situation that reflects the “earthquake” symbolism – shock, upheaval, the unexpected, news that has sent shockwaves rippling through your life or your community, big life changes etc – then this coming weekend is likely to mark a landmark/light bulb moment – a significant link in the chain of events still unfolding. The bigger message is not to be sucked into any whirlpool of drama but to find your footholds and deal with one thing at a time.

Along the way we have a harmonious and helpful Mercury – Jupiter link on Wednesday – exact at 15.10 BST. This is the classic “good news” contact and it’s also fantastic for doing deals or making agreements/inspired decisions that will change life for the better. All matters linked to negotiation, education, travel, legal concerns and publishing get an especially big tick.

This week’s Astrology – 17 September 2012

If ever there was a time for looking for the deeper meaning this week is it. The awkward dance of the two outer planets – Uranus and Pluto – continues as they square up to each other for the second time. The first square was 24 June of this year and, rather overwhelmingly, this contact happens a total of 7 times, the final contact being mid March 2015. These outer planets tend to act as the global backdrop to social, political and financial reform, often through anarchic or dramatic events, but for some this kind of change will also play out in the personal arena. For now, if you have planets/angles at around 7 degrees of the cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn then you are more likely to experience your own life changing events.

It may sound contradictory for an astrologer to talk about living in the moment but given the Uranus/Pluto “panic factor” I feel very strongly that it’s worth finding that quiet space inside you even if everything else has stopped making any sense!
