Chiron was discovered in 1977, coinciding with the rise of the holistic health industry and the subsequent spiraling awareness of the mind – body – spirit connection. In terms of astrological tradition Chiron is still something of an infant.
As we start the new week, Mercury is “stationing”, appearing as if he has come to a virtual standstill in the sky – as he gets ready to start moving forwards again, having been retrograde since 17 November.
This Sun – Jupiter union that we’re now enjoying is especially powerful as Jupiter is in “dignity” – in his own sign of Sagittarius – and the Sun is symbolically at home in any of the fire signs.
The current backdrop is not just Jupiter travelling through his own sign. There is also Mercury, who turned retrograde at 13 degrees Sagittarius in the early hours of Saturday morning. Mercury, always retrograde for 3 weeks at a time (3 times a year) is in mischief mode.
Last week I wrote that it was arguably one of the most important weeks in this year’s calendar, and the huge surge of change is ongoing. There’s one spoke in the wheel to contend with – Mercury turning retrograde this week – but Jupiter’s arrival in his own sign of Sagittarius last Thursday is now the big backdrop.
